Join Us for the Trash Dash FUNdraiser on April 14!

On Sunday, April 14, the Neighborhood Design Center is returning to Bladensburg Waterfront Park to battle a major issue faced by so many of our public parks — trash!

Working side-by-side, teams of 5-10 will clean up the park’s waterfront piers, walking paths, and picnic areas — all while engaging in friendly competition to see who can clean up the most trash, and raise the most funds for NDC!

Winners get a handmade trophy, swag, admiration, and potentially a few disgruntled glances from your defeated opponents.

We’ll be sure to fuel up beforehand with food and refreshments while listening to music in a family-friendly vibe. See how last year’s Trash Dash event was an absolute smash.

Participating is easy!

Step 1: Collect your team

It can be a group of work buddies, friends, family members, neighbors, industry partners, etc. Select a team captain, pick a fun group name, theme, and start pondering stellar costume ideas.

Don’t have time to form a team, but want to be a part of the clean-up? Email event organizer Nicole Ringel at nringel@ndc-md.org with the subject line, “Trash Dash.”

Step 2: Have your team captain register

Captains will be asked to submit the registration fee for your group. Upon completing the form, the captain will receive a sharable link allowing each participant to add themselves to the team. After you’ve registered, you’ll receive an email with your own team fundraising page to track how you stack up against the competition over time. We’ll also share a few insider tips and resources to help your fundraising efforts along! Register here.

Step 3: Fundraise

Ask everyone in your network to help your team raise funds in support of NDC’s community design work. ‘Most Funds Raised’ is a prize-winning category, so your team will want to be on top!

Step 4: Show Up and Show Off

Throw on your costumes and come prepared to make a tangible difference in the health and appearance of a local watershed. When you arrive, we’ll all gather, fuel up with light fare, and practice some friendly ‘trash’ talk to get started!

Step 5: Win, Create, and Celebrate!

The competition begins - most bags of trash collected wins! That means clean with gumption! And did we mention we’ll be awarding amazing trophies made from reclaimed rubbish? We’ll have canoes available for the brave to aid with collecting trash in the river.
